The workshop is organized by the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences and will have the participation of <\/strong>Cl\u00e1udia Monge<\/strong><\/a>, Professor at FDUL and Lawyer at BAS, in one of its panels with the topic processing of health and genetic data’.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), applicable since 25 May 2018, has introduced significant changes in the national legal framework and in all the Member States of the European Union. Although it is a Regulation of European Union law, immediately applicable in the state legal systems, the GDPR refers, in several provisions, to subsequent regulation of national law in order to give them the necessary applicability. Indeed, the scope, complexity and specificity of data protection make it inevitable to give States wide margins of freedom, as recognized by the GDPR in its recitals 8 and 10.<\/p>\n

In this sense, it is the various solutions contained in the national law implementing the GDPR (Law 58\/2019 of 8 August) – namely specific situations of processing, special regimes, administrative and jurisdictional guardianship and sanctions regime – which was finally approved by the Portuguese Parliament, and which will be systematically analysed and discussed in this Workshop.<\/p>\n

Organised by the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences, the workshop will take place on 11 October at the FDUL’s Amphitheatre 9, and will include four panels where the most varied aspects of the GDPR will be analysed and debated. Cl\u00e1udia Monge, Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and Lawyer at BAS e Associados, is one of the keynote speakers and will address the Processing of health and genetic data’.
