“Advocacy for Health Citizenship”

“Advocacy for Health Citizenship”

The handbook for patient organizations and other advocates, edited by Petrony, aims to contribute to the motivation and empowerment of patient organizations and other advocates in the exercise of their health citizenship. The editors of this work are Rute Simões Ribeiro, who coordinates, and Cristina Ventura and Paulo Gonçalves.

This work, dedicated to all those who advocate for the interests and rights of people in the health context, deals with Participation, Organisation, System, and Voice. It covers several themes and perspectives, brought together with the collaboration of several health specialists, including an article by Cláudia Monge, dedicated to the theme “The rights of people in a health context in International Law, European Union Law, and Portuguese Law”.

A work dedicated to patients could not have been written without the patients, unequivocal partners in health decision-making, so it was also built with their participation.
