Claúdia Monge coordinates Medical Law course

The Medical Law course will begin in the next academic year 2017/2018. It’s organized by the Institute of Legal-Political Sciences (ICJP) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. Professor Cláudia Monge, partner and lawyer at BAS will be responsible for the scientific coordination.

This course aims to discuss the right to healthcare protection as a fundamental right, the Portuguese Healthcare System, healthcare administrative organization and the study of patients’ rights.

From publicity to data protection

The Medical Law course will focus on current topics such as information duty, informed consent, protection of medical data and the duty of confidentiality, medical databases, the protection of genetic data in particular and clinical research, equitable access to healthcare and the principle of justice, public health policies and healthcare financing, medical publicity, drug law and health technologies, civil, legal and disciplinary liability of health professionals and the responsibility of health institutions, among others.

The course is designed for law students, lawyers and other senior technicians in healthcare institutions and services, professionals and health managers.
